Last time I saw Amelia’s family, Jenny asked me if I’d be available for Amelia’s first birthday. I was so excited because one of my first jobs was for her their eldest daughter Eleanor’ birthday. She had Amelia’s party in the same location and it was such a perfect time for me to reflect on how far I’ve come in the past couple years with my photography. Thank you Jenny & family for entrusting me with your family’s special moments. It makes me so happy to see your girls growing up!
On a different note, I absolutely love Korean first birthdays! I think it’s such a great tradition to mark the first year. To be honest, I don’t know that I’ve always understood making such a big deal and putting so much into a birthday party. But over the past couple years I’ve come to realize that it really is a blessing and miracle to bring life into the world. It is not uncommon for couples to struggle with being able to have a child and I think it is easy to disregard the amount of patience, love, energy, luck and good fortune that exists in this process. So to take a moment after the first year to commemorate life, really is a beautiful thing.
And of course, it’s important to capture all this commemorating! Jenny did such an amazing job on decorating. I love the owl theme and she did so much of this on her own! There was even an little photobooth area set up with the owl! Mini-photo booths are something I want to incorporate more into my even photography so this was a lot of fun.
