For Japan With Love

I can barely watch the news without crying. Japan holds a very special place in my heart. Although I only spent a year there, I learned so much about myself. There was a time when I was reluctant to go and reluctant to stay but by the end of my year there I had fostered friendships and found a new appreciation for both Japan and the U.S.

I’ve donated to through which is being organized by Lydia of Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged. They hand picked Shelter Box as the organization they are donating to. ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

I was feeling down because I donated monetarily what I could (which really wasn’t much) and wanted to do MORE. I figured I could piggyback on what Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged has put together and donate services. This is what I’ve come up with! I’m encouraging creatives, bloggers, people who have the hook up for cool things to donate! If you don’t blog but want to contribute let me know and I can help get your donation out there. Stay tuned, I’m hoping there will be some great donations!

I donate because…

I lived in Japan for year. It resides close to my heart. I’ve donated money but now I want to do more.

What I love about Japan

I love shirokuma. I love how I would go running in my little town and people would yell “GANBATTE!” The people. The food. The natural beauty… I could go on and on
