Heather [Senior Session]

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Dear Heather,

I  know you’re going to do great things in this world. I’m sure of it. You are such a hard working and genuine person. I can’t wait to see what you decide to do now that you’re finishing up at UCLA and moving out into the “real world.” The Biomedical Library will be so sad to see you go but hopefully you will come to visit us in LA for a Sprinkles fix now and again! I also hope you’ll pick your camera back up again and keep me updated on how the reunion goes!

Family Session: Slideshow

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

I’m trying to get better about using all the resources I have available to help build my photography business. I’ve been meaning to mess around with the slideshows that I can make through SmugMug (which I love by the way). So here is an example of what a family session looks like. Granted, there were a lot more photos, but here are a few of my favorites.

I spent a couple hours with Jenny and her family. We started in the backyard but shot indoors as well. Amelia’s room is decorated so beautifully, so we had to take advantage of that! I forgot to ask where they got the wall decal but it reminded me of this website and so I revisited it and stumbled on this decal by Mel Lim. I keep putting off doing any major decorating since we rent, but I’m starting to reconsider.

I love how little ones will act shy in the beginning and as they start to warm up their personality just explodes! I think my Aya is very similar. Eleanor was a bit skeptical of me at first, even though she knows me from before, but by the end, she was hamming it up with diva poses!

Lily: UCLA Grad Session

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

As I drove to UCLA I was a bit nervous. Were those clouds dark enough to produce rain? Should I call Lily and reschedule? What if it starts to rain mid-session? I decided to press on and am SO glad I did! It was actually nice to shoot when it was little overcast that harsh summer sun was diffused and we were able to go where we wanted. I never thought I’d have an affinity toward another UC campus since I did my undergrad at UC Santa Barbara, but I’m starting to realize that UCLA has wiggled its way into my affection. It’s a beautiful campus and we took advantage of the Italian Romanesque Revival style of Royce & Powell (I wish I was well versed in architecture but I totally looked that up) and made our way down Bruinwalk.

The sky may have been a bit overcast, but Lily’s laugh and smile completely light up an environment! I had such a great time getting to know Lily and I wish her the best as she pursues her future endeavors!
